Decision trail
Every run in your workspace leaves a decision trail: one record per step that ran a model. Open a run under a workflow’s History tab and the trail sits under the step results.
What a step shows
Section titled “What a step shows”| Part | What it is |
|---|---|
| Input | What the step received from the steps before it |
| Conversation | The messages exchanged with the model, collapsed by default: the prompt, each tool it called and what the tool returned, each reply. A delegated run (an agent that asked another agent) is shown indented under the step that delegated. |
| Output | What the step returned |
| Tokens and cost | The tokens the step used and what it cost |
| Feedback | What people in your workspace have already said about this step |
Very long content is cut at a storage limit. When that happens the step says so and the cut is marked where it happened, so you never read a silently shortened trace.
Steps that ran as part of a system workflow (the Home page, help in chat, alert triage) are hidden from the trail by default.
What you can do from a step
Section titled “What you can do from a step”- Mark wrong. Give the right answer and, if you like, why. The correction is kept with the run.
- Rate. A thumbs up or down on the step’s output.
- Make this an eval case. The step’s input becomes a test case for the workflow, with your corrected output as the expected answer. The workflow’s eval suite will check future versions against it.
- Fix the prompt. Opens the workflow editor. When you save, the new version is linked to the run you came from, so you can later see which run prompted which edit.
All of these are recorded as feedback on the run — your words, next to the model’s.
What is and is not recorded
Section titled “What is and is not recorded”Recorded: the step’s input and output (shortened), the conversation with the model, which tools were called, tokens and cost, the status (completed, failed, asked a question, awaiting approval, cancelled), and every explicit action a person takes on the output.
Not recorded: anything a person did not act on. Reading a run is not feedback; a later message in chat is not a correction. Credentials the run used — a connection’s password, a token — are masked before anything is stored.
Where the trail begins
Section titled “Where the trail begins”Runs from before your workspace had a decision trail have no records; the run still shows its outputs as before. New runs record every step.
How long it is kept
Section titled “How long it is kept”Decision records are kept for the number of days set under Settings → Workspace → Decision records (your organisation sets the default and the maximum). Feedback is kept until you delete the workspace. See Audit log for retention, legal hold and consent.
